What are Beard Rollers

Power Beard Growth Roller

Beard rollers have a handle that looks like any standard shaving razor, but instead of a razor on the end, it’s a cylinder-shaped head with lots of tiny, half-millimeter-long microneedles embedded into the roller.

When you glide the roller across your face, you’re doing what’s called micro-needling. Some have used derma rollers (its common name) as a treatment for hair loss on the scalp, and they have been popular for years with women to help fight wrinkles and crow’s feet. And yes, beard rollers or derma rollers can help you fill out your sporadic beard, especially when used properly and in combination with the right beard growth oil.

How Does a Beard Roller Work

As the beard roller moves across your skin, the microneedles make micro openings in your skin. The needles are so tiny that you shouldn’t feel pain or discomfort (if you do feel pain, stop using it immediately).

Tiny micro punctures from the beard roller help remove clogged pores, can help improve circulation, and may also help stimulate natural collagen, all of which help with growing a natural, healthy beard.

These micro openings also allow beard growth products to absorb more efficiently into the skin under your beard to work their magic. If you’re interested in beard growth products, check out our incredible bundle of beard growth oils that come with a free beard roller!

When using a beard roller, you don’t want to overdo it. The size of the microneedles will determine how often you can use your beard roller. The bigger the needles, the less often you should use them.

We typically recommend using our beard roller 2-3 times a week. Gently roll horizontally, diagonally, and vertically a few times, covering the surface of your beard. Apply light and gentle pressure.

Don’t press too hard. The idea is to open up your pores, not damage them. When you change direction, lift the roller completely off your face, and don’t pivot while it’s on your skin.

After you’re done, be sure to clean your roller with soap and water. If you feel any pain or discomfort, stop immediately.

Since the roller is covered in needles, they can, over time, get dull. Be sure to replace your roller head every 30 days and always keep it clean in-between and before uses.

Do Beard Rollers Actually Work

That’s the million-dollar question, isn’t it? Do beard rollers actually work?

The answer is YES!

In fact, the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) conducted a double blind study on the effects of micro-needling on hair growth versus using Minoxidil for hair growth.

The Minoxidil group had a marginal 4.5% reporting of 50% improvement factor while an astounding 82% of the microneedling group reported 50% or better improvement factor. These results are incredible when you think about how many millions of Americans use Rogaine (Minoxidil) for thinning or patchy hair growth.

Just remember, when taking on the challenge of filling out your patchy beard, it takes more than just using a beard roller. You need to couple it with high-quality beard growth products, eat healthy foods, and drink lots of water.

Results to Expect from Using a Beard Roller

It's important to have realistic goals and expectations. Growing a beard naturally takes time. Give yourself an entire month before you assess progress and plan for a good 1-2 months to really see the best results. Don’t expect to use a beard roller, eat some salmon, and wake up a fully bearded Spartan. It won’t happen, dude. And don't believe the scammy ads and products that say it will.

You need to break it up into 30-day increments. Take a picture on day one, go hard, and really commit to a beard growth routine, then take another picture on day 30. Celebrate the results, then rinse and repeat.

@ Alice. LOL, yes they are essentially the same tool. The way the abrasion tool tightens your skin is the same principle that makes a MAN’S beard grow in more full and healthy. Healthy skin = healthy beard.

So a beard roller is the same thing as micro-derm abrasion I use on my face. I’d be pissed if I started growing a beard!

The beard roller is legit! I have been using it for 2 months and my beard is filling in thicker than ever. Hoping I’ll only need to use it for another couple of months to be fully filled in. Would show pics here if that was an option. Very happy with it.
